Holding Pattern ...

Greetings, delicious ones! This day, indeed this week, has turned out to be busier than I expected. I'm off to hunt and forage at the moment and will be heading into the kitchen when I return. The weather has turned crisp and cool and its time to start breaking out some of the classic comfort foods.

Stay tuned for a new recipe tomorrow and in the meanwhile, enjoy this darling photo taken at the P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center last weekend. It shows a segment of the Urban Garden installation and I don't know why - but it just sort of speaks to me. ~wink~

More deliciousness to come ... but, for now, what's your favorite fall comfort food? Curious Diva wants to know.

  1. I don't think I have a favorite fall comfort food. I guess it would have to be a drink. Hot Cocoa. For both fall and winter :)

  2. My favorite Fall foods are soups of any kind, mugs of hot tea and fresh baked breads. The news just told us to pull out the heavy blankets tonight...we're gonna need them. That means I'll have both cats plastered on top of me. The simple joys of Fall.

    I'm with you Michele - soups, stews and baked goods are where its at. I'm so excited that its going to be soup season again. Whee!

    I'm looking forward to the chilly night and hoping the heat in our building won't come on. LOL

  4. Yyeah Michele is right - soup has gotta be it for me especially my own chicken stoup (with compliments to Rachel Ray for coining the phrase for something between soup and stew). I just posted my recipe to the loves to cook team on Sparkpeople and actually won a contest for best healthy makeover of a classic as judges by some chrch ladies in Missouri. Ah fame and fortune will surely follow....LOL

  5. My favorite (and yours pre-beach) is Mac n'cheese. I may try it as a test with the (ugh) whole wheat mac and lowfat cheese. I'll let you know how it comes out. Can't wait to try your latest tomato soup. That will go over bigger than the former with Daddy Diva.
    And there's a recipe for butternut squash risotto that Ina Garten did that looks interesting. She used pancetta though.

    Pixelgal - you're right, mac and cheese is still my all time fave ... but I haven't made it in months. I was going to rework your recipe at a later date ... with the ww pasta ... but I'm afraid to ruin a classic!

    Folk, Pixelgal makes the greatest mac and cheese ever! I can't even come close to hers. :)

  7. Oh man, mac and cheese - yummo!! Hey Diva try Ellie Kreiger's version, it's not Mom's but it is pretty darn good and healthy she adds pureed butternut squash. It adds an interesting dimension.
