Fresh off the heels of the wildly successful Eating Your Words blogging event, Jen at Savor the Thyme has launched another hilarious contest ... this one involving Peeps! And this time there's a prize. The lucky winner will receive a copy of "Best of the Best: the best recipes from the 25 best cookbooks of the year." You can play too! Entries must be sent to Jen by midnight, April 5th. You can read the rules here.
I do so love a web-tacular event and I had about a million ideas for this one. Evidently my dark sense of humor won out. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves ...
A Day in the Life of a Peep:
Just hatched ...
Off to work ...
Uh oh!
**For the record, no actual Peeps were consumed while filming this entry ... at least not by me. The husband is a fan - I am not. I may be known to eat the occasional Peep once a year, but I prefer the day old variety - when the Peep is slightly crisp ... Papa Diva will back me up on that!
I did, however, eat the omelet. Word to the wise - Peep flavored eggs will not soon become the latest taste sensation.
Why not hatch a few ideas of your own and join the fun? Thanks so much for setting this up, Jen, I had a blast. Can't wait to see the other entries!
Bon appetit!

The hatching Peep is super cute. Not Peep fans either. They just have a funky taste. But this is a cute little display!
Your funny. Peeps are really cute, except they taste gross.
you are out of your peeping mind!
I know, I know. This is just so wrong on so many levels! ;)
This looks like fun! I hope I have time to do it. I prefer my Peeps fresh and smooshy for the record.
Now I just want an omelette.
words words words - I hope you have time to get in on the action ... I can only imagine where you'd take this! ;)
What a cute peep! Love the hatching peep and the peep whisking - very creative!
What does it say about me that I was startled by that hatching pic when I opened up your blog page?
I agree that peeps taste icky. Your pics are sure fun tho.
Try adding a marshmallow peanut or two.
5 star foodie - Thank you! He was an especially cute Peep ... helpful too. ;)
Dana - I think it says you're normal ... not sure what it says about me that this is where I took the contest entry! LOL
Tim Stevens - good plan ... Papa Diva would be all over that!
I've never tasted a peep but it looks a bit wrong. I imagine it gave the omlette a nice sugary sheen though. Not so sure if that's a good thing though.
Aoife - they're made of marshmallow and they are insanely sweet. One of those things you either love or hate. I do not recommend including them in egg dishes ... does not go well together! This was strictly for the purposes of laughter! ;)
This is hysterical!! Thanks so much for sharing your sense of humor. ;)
OMG, LOL! What a busy, hard-working peep.
Jennifer - I had so much fun with this. Thanks so much for dreaming it up ... and not calling me crazy! LOL ;)
Cookie - he *is* busy! I hope you're going to play too. :)
The whisking peep is adorable! I have an entry, too, but when I re-read the 'rules', I realized that it's not quite a 'healthy' dish. 8-o
Still, when next to a Peep, a bag of Cheetos would be the pinnacle of nutrition! Great narrative. 8-)
Lol your peeps are working the camera girl!
Oh those are some cracking peeps! Over here in Ireland I do not have access to peeps - or, at least, if they have made it over here, they haven't made it to my kitchen - but if I had some, I would most certainly have them stand guard over my omelettes :)
Daily Spud - you're probably better off with out the peeps ... adorable to be sure, but the taste? Brrrr!

Heavenly Housewife - OMG, that is hilarious! Peep flavored lip balm?! I can't decide if its good ... or gross! LOL
