Home

Is there anything better than the caress of one's own deliciously comfortable mattress after a long day of travel? I think not. I certainly enjoyed the hell out of that caress last night ... and, truth to tell, am still attired in a fashion that attests to such delights. ~wink~

The Diva has returned from a whirlwind weekend of bloggy goodness in San Francisco and it was spectacular. So much so that its going to take days for me to synthesize it all and come up with anything useful by way of re-capping the wonder that was BlogHer Food '09.

Simply put, the conference was an amazing experience. I met dozens of wonderful people, many of whom seem destined to become friends for life, and others of whom I've admired for so long it was almost like meeting a rock star. The panels were educational and informative; the networking, supreme; the chocolate, plentiful ... and, oh, there was wine ... and scotch ... and margaritas. Oh, my!

As for the food, well, let us speak of other things. Suffice it to say I'm craving something, anything, that isn't a white carb. With all due respect to my veggie friends - dinner tonight will involve meat and plenty of it! I'm thinking pot roast. Its time for this Diva to return to the kitchen and get cooking. Stay tuned.

I will recap the event later in the week and look forward to shouting out my new blog friends. I miss you already!

Cheers!

Fantastic :). I totally agree with you though, there is no nicer feeling in the world than sleeping in your own bed after being away from home. From what i hear the next Blogher is in NY. So, I guess you feel that its worth going to then? Its something I'm considering.

Hi, HH! Yes, the next BlogHer conference is in NYC ... though its a general blogging conference, not just food. That said, I do think its worth attending. The networking opportunities alone are worth it and the educational aspects were really great too. Not to mention that it was just plain fun! :)

I'm planning on attending the general conference in NYC and will certainly attend next year's BlogHer Food. Not sure where that will be, but it might be in SF again.

I think you should attend too ... we'll do lunch. ;)

Hi Tara!

It was great to meet you too! I had a blast at the conference. You have such a cool blog. I'll have to subscribe!

Have a great week!

Heard that the food wasn't so great, which is astounding. Looking forward to hearing your opinion on that and the rest of the festivities!

Hi Tiffany! So great to meet you too! I'm excited to get back into baking with agave thanks to you. I'm adding you to my subscriptions as well ... I think all of our blog rolls are about to grow by leaps and bounds! ;)

Duo - errr, not sure what to say about the food. I mean, I try to be nice ... but, man, it was a bit rough. I will say that Chef Elizabeth Faulkner made a kick-ass chocolate explosion that rocked my world! More on that later in the week. :)

Welcome back, Diva dear. A familiar bed is especially wonderful after an ugly plane ride too. Looking forward to more delicious recipes once you get back down to earth, really, on this coast. SF is pretty great but one weekend is not enough time. Next time stay a week or so and really enjoy! btw I'm making meatloaf tonight!

Astra - thanks! I had a blast ... but so good to crawl into my own bed last night. :)

pixelgal - meatloaf? Are you trying to hurt me?! Email me some! LOL ;)

You are SO lucky you got to attend the BlogHer conference in SF! Seeing that the next one is in NYC..I'm going to find a way to get in no matter what it takes!! lol That said, I'm passing the tiara to you..because your blog rocks! Glad you had a good time, but also glad you're comfy at home again :) There really is no place like home!

Sounds amazing! I loved the picture of your skyline at home too. I've never had the opportunity to get together with a group of bloggers and imagine it would be very fun!

Hi Laura! You're right, the after parties were the most fun ... so glad to have met you, Janet and Heather. I had a blast! Let's do it again next year!

Lisa Michelle - aw, thanks! I've decided to attend the general BlogHer '10 here in NYC, so we will have to hook up. We food bloggers will need to stick together during that one! I do recommend a trip to the next BlogHer Food, wherever that will be ... it was a great experience.

5 Star - It was BIG fun ... mostly because food bloggers are all such fun people. You literally can't go wrong. :)

Maven - I should probably have clarified ... that glass of wine is resting on the terrace at the hotel in SF ... so not my skyline. LOL If you do have an opportunity to attend one of these things, I recommend it, highly!

Katherine - thanks for the welcome back ... I missed my blog peeps too, as well as my bed. ;)

Steph - thanks, its good to be back! Now I just need to shake off the jet-lag.

Hi Charmian, I missed you too! As I said in my comment on your blog ... I doubt my ability to recap the conference ... I was too busy having fun to take proper pics! Must do better next time.

I would so love to have been able to go to BlogHer Food (but having been at IFBC Seattle earlier this year, I couldn't really justify another transatlantic trip just yet!). Maybe I'll make one of the food bloggie conferences next year, though... Looking forward to hearing more details on your BlogHer experience in due course!

I'm looking forward to hearing more as well. In particular, what kind of things did you learn?

Gossip would be good, too. LIke, who said what when they were drunk?

Jackie said...

Tara, it was so nice meeting you at BlogHer Food! I couldn't agree more about the food - I don't think I'm going to be making pasta at all this week!

I cant wait to hear! I guess we need a bloghe event or a bloghim or a blogguy - what should it be called?

The Diva on a Diet said...

Daily Spud - we're kind of even, for I would like to have attended IFBC! Will definitely look into it for next year though. :)

Dana - I learned so much I want to quit everything else in my life and devote the time to building a better blog! Photography stuff, brand management, leveraging blog success into other mediums, you name it and I've now got ideas about it. Really, it was just that good. As for the drunken gossip ... I don't think I stayed late enough at the party to hear anything truly juicy. More's the pity!

Of course a few of us engaged in a bit of gossip of our own, but I'd have to email you the details. ;)

Jackie - so lovely to meet you too! I'm off to visit you on your blog this minute and I hope we'll keep in touch. Had such fun with you at the after-party! :)

doggybloggy - need you even ask? ... of course it should be called: BlogDog! ;)

Checking out your blog, dear! Going chronologically. Always good to be home although my bed was less comfy than the Westin's and Mr. GFE and I just turned our mattress. ;-) I'm still synthesizing all of BlogHer Food myself, but I agree that it was an awesome experience.

I recognize one of your readers from another blog I used to read! It is always such a small world--love that. :-)
