Housekeeping: Weekend Edition

My stove is missing me again. With the hockey game on Tuesday and Book Club on Wednesday, I haven't had a chance to create much in the way of culinary greatness. I had intended to write about our Book Club meal today ... but as it turns out, there wasn't much to recommend. The discussion was great, but the food unremarkable. Also, the husband has surprised me by taking the afternoon off - a much needed break for him.

We're going to pump some dollars into the economy, check out the recently opened Museum of Arts & Design at Columbus Circle and possibly a new wine bar. I'll be toting my camera along and if there's anything to report or recommend, I'll post it next week.

I expect to be reunited with the stove over the weekend, so stay tuned for a new recipe on Monday.

So, what's on the agenda for your weekend? Curious Diva wants to know.

Bon appetit!

Unremarkable meal? Wow, that's too bad. Hopefully you will find fab wine and treats this weekend. We'll be cooking, cooking, cooking and trying to stay dry all weekend. When it's rainy, we like to chillll out!

Your weekend sounds fabulous! Looking forward to hearing about your adventures!

Of course, now I want to know what your book club is reading... :-)

Our weekend consists of copious studying, with a break to meet friends for margaritas tonight! ;-)

We'll be watching a simulcast of Lucia de Lamermoor with some friends at a local Arts center rather than venturing to the Met for the real thing. Then a meal out afterwards. We're looking forward to another opera and miss the New York experience. Maybe next year! So glad you're contributing to the economy and having a surprise day with himself.

Nothing fantastic planned - hte usual exercise classes and planning the meals for next week. I am going to try to visit a sick friend who just got home from the hospital after being there since just before Thanksgiving. She had viral pneumonia and now is sporting a lovely trach vent os I'm hoping to cheer her up with lively chatter and some good food!

Atta girl, Deb. Nothing like friends to improve a person's health. I'm sure the food will be delicious!

My weekend will be spent doing laundry, making a trip to BJs wholesale club, working on an interview with a possible new sponsor and figuring out what the heck to do with a bag of sweet potatoes. Your plans sound much more interesting! :)

Your kitchen is so cute! Our weekend was packed. Friends, grocery shopping, big trip to the gym for workit-circuit class, dinner with my dad at cheesecake factory (I'm dreading it because of the food...). Hope you enjoyed the museum!

Duo - we did find some fab wine. I'll be posting a wrap-up tomorrow! Hope you enjoyed a relaxing, if rainy, weekend! :)

Astra - we read "The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao" ... very interesting. It made for great discussion, though it may not be everyone's cup of tea. It won the Pulitzer last year. Hope you had a nice break from the studying!

Pixelgal - We were single-handedly propping up the economy this weekend for sure! ;) LOL

Deb - how scary about your friend! I hope her recovery will progress rapidly. Ugh. So great of you to offer the yummy food and company. Lovely. Good luck to her!

Michele - Mmm, love sweet potatoes. Can't wait to read about what you did with them! There was a wonderful recipe for a sweet potato and wheat berry casserole in this month's issue of Prevention that I'm going to try soon. Will report back.

Juliet - I'm blessed with what is a large kitchen by Manhattan standards. That's just a tiny corner of it, but I'm lucky enough to have a true eat-in kitchen ... such a luxury in the city. :) Your weekend sounds great to me and good for you for including the trip to the gym! :)
