Home

Greetings, delicious ones! I have returned to Divaland after a bout of computer misery and a wonderful trip to Germany. Snowy, wintery Germany, to be precise!

Indeed, I was on vacation last week, far away in the beautiful German Alps ... as well as Munich, parts of Bavaria and the small sweet village of Mulfingan, from which hails part of the husband's heritage.

We covered quite a bit of ground in a short amount of time and, as you can see, the weather was most unusual! Although I had thrown a couple of sweaters into my suitcase at the last minute, just in case, I had no idea we'd find ourselves in a winter wonderland. The pictures above and below were taken in Oberammergau, on a day when the temperature was a balmy 30 degrees F. Wow!

Normally, I'm not a fan of snow - far from it - but in this setting it was altogether charming; rather like finding one's self in the middle of a Christmas card. I loved it while we were there ... but I'm hoping the snow stays in the alps where it belongs.

I have much to report in the way of several delicious meals. The food was extraordinary ... though my pictures may leave something to be desired. I'll be posting more about the trip in the coming days, so stay tuned.

As for the computer woes, well, I'm functioning. My old laptop is dead and I'm up and running on a shiny new Mac. I've been a PC person for so long, the change has been ... interesting. I'm still not sure how to deal with the photos and, clearly, I have much to learn. The important thing, however, is that we're back in business here in Divaland and I'm no longer off-line. Hooray!

I've missed you all and will look forward to catching up with you on your own blogs, as well as filling you in on my trip.

Thanks for sticking with me and we will return to normal here as soon as possible.

Cheers!

Hey! You're back? Thank goodness. I've run out of cocktail ideas and I bought this fantastic Yves St. Laurent mascara I was dying to tell you about.

Welcome back and welcome to the Mac world.

I'm a big Mac fan, but not a Big Mac fan, if you get my drift.

Anyway, I agree that the snow belongs atop the Alps and not in my backyard any time soon.

Have fun with your new laptop!

Dana, thanks! If you pop back in, I'd love more details on the new mascara. I've recently become disenchanted with mine and am looking for a new brand.

Hi Donna, thanks!

Charmian - ditto for me on the Big Macs ... and I'm hoping to turn into a Mac fan. Bit of a shaky transition so far, but I'm sure I'll learn to love it. Mostly, I'm no good at change ... I want my old computer back ... and all the photos that were in it!!!

Your pictures are absolutely beautiful- definitely a winter wonderland! I loooove Germany. Never been to your said vacation spot though. Hey, have you tried the Kiehl's mascara yet? I saw it but didn't buy it but it seemed nice.

I'm using this one: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P218400&cm_mmc=us_search-_-GoogleBase-_-P218400-_-1120740&_requestid=42976&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=1120740

I decided not to get the lash extensions right now and a stylist friend from MTV Canada suggested this mascara. A little goes a long, long way. Worth the price!

What beautiful pictures!

So true about snow having places where it belongs and where it doesn't.
Places with commuting, for example, is where it should STAY AWAY.
Adorable vacation places with probably really good warm comfort food? Sure!

Glad you're back - missed you and your blog. I could never transition to the MAC - I'm a tried and true PC girl - my DD has a MAC and she loves it but I've tried to use it and usually end up shutting it down in frustration.

Pics of Germany are fabulous - looking forward to hearing more about the trip. Sharron and I are going to Greek isles in June next year - very excited about trip and the food!

Looks like the Ct trip is not happening until Dec - maybe we can connect then...

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome back wishes! You've really made my day and I mean that sincerely. I've missed you all!

I'm still so tired from the jet lag, I couldn't even string two words together today. Will hope for improvement on that front tomorrow as I do have things to tell.

Thanks also for the mascara tips ... I feel a Sephora trip of my own coming on! ;)

Deb - would love to see you in Dec. if scheduling allows ... keep me posted. Your trip with Sharon sounds wonderful too. :)

Looking forward to the posts about your trip! And welcome to Mac world - I made the jump a year ago and I haven't regretted it. As for snow, we've already had a few days with snowfall and that was just the first week of October. This is going to be a long and snowy winter . . .

I can't believe you didn't mention this upcoming trip when you were at BlogHer! I, myself, would have been bragging on another upcoming adventure. ;-) (Like we just booked our trip to Key West for Christmas!) Seriously, so glad you had this wonderful trip. Okay, I just learned the secret to jet lag--no kidding. My alternative doctor told me to take one mg of melatonin per hour of time difference and then decrease 1 mg per night. So when I just returned from my POM trip, I took 3 mg the first night, 2 mg the second night, and 1 mg the third night. If you still felt wonky the next day, you could take another 1 mg. You take the melatonin one hour before you want to go to bed. It worked really well! I felt wonky for a few hours the first morning and that was it. I'll be buying melatonin whenever I go on a trip with more than a 2-hr time difference from now on. Of course, I have plenty left right now. You can just buy the melatonin at The Vitamin Shoppe (or similar).
