Housekeeping: Extended Version

Its been awhile since we've seen the virtual housekeeper - and, unfortunately, she'll be here for a few days. While I'd normally be getting a jump start on the Thanksgiving prep this weekend, instead I'm packing up my bags and heading off to the parental units for a bit.

Mama Diva - a.k.a. "pixelgal" - is having knee replacement surgery on Monday and, worrywart that I am, I need to be there to monitor her progress. If all goes as expected, I should be back in the city and ready to cook again on Wednesday.

I'll check in from the road with an update on Mama Diva sometime on Monday. In the meanwhile, tell me what you've got planned for Thanksgiving. Hungry Diva want to know!

Have a great weekend and make it ... Divalicious!

It would be so nice to have a housekeeper. If you don't mind me asking...

What does she do? How often and what does she charge?

We seriously need one in our two full-time employee home.

LOL, Hektik - I meant the virtual housekeeper ... she's (meaning that picture) my symbol for when I'm away from the blog, or when I need to talk about boring details!

That being said, if I'm being honest, I'll admit to having someone who comes in to clean for me every other week. She does a far better job than I ever will and she's worth every penny. Typical stuff: dusting, vacuuming, washing the floors, etc. She would do the laundry, but I prefer to do that myself. She charges $20 per hour and that's fairly typical for the area in which I live.

Have a great stay with the parental units. Pixiegal be well and best wishes for your surgery! Sending you healing thoughts and love. Let me know how things go!

On my side of the health equation - John made it through his bypass like a trouper. All is well and he is doing great. He still has a long road to travel to wellness but he is on his way.

So relieved to see you here, Deb! I checked back in hopes of seeing some word from you. Hooray for John the trouper - and his medical team too. Thank heaven. I know its a long road and you'll still be in my thoughts and prayers for it. Yay for the good news! :)

Thanks also for the good wishes for Mama Diva! She will appreciate that and I will keep you posted as soon as I have some news.

Take care and I'll be in touch. Love, T.

Thanksgiving will just be the two of us...maybe Phil's mum. We never know about her until the last minute. After years of family chaos and drama we just stay home. Hope everything goes well for your mum...that her surgery is a breeze and her recovery time swift! :-)

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone. I'm being well taken care of by the Diva and the rest of the clan (thanks family dear) and expect to be dancing a jig before too long...or at least a waltz. We're making plans for Europe in '09! So it's all good. Looking forward to my new 'appliance'.

Deb, great news about John!

Love y'all.

So glad to here pixelgal is doing well! Yay.

Diva, I just wanted to let you know that I'm making my do-ahead gravy tonight. :-) I know I mention it every year, but it has truly transformed my Thanksgiving! Ok, that's a lit strong. But it is a huge help! And always tasty. I think of you and send out thanks every time I make it. Have fun and miss you!
